Middlesbrough Art Week brings together free contemporary art exhibitions, talks, performances, events and activities across the town. The sixth edition's theme is 'Measure', engaging with ways of thinking of past, present and future.

‘Fabric: Textile as Artistic Material’ explores the role of textiles in art from classical modernism to the present.

'Jonathan Baldock: Touch Wood' is a joyous, sensory feast of a solo exhibiition that takes inspiration from medieval sculpture, sacred geometry, the seasons and folk motifs. 

The Land Carries Our Ancestors: Contemporary Art by Native Americans, curated by Jaune Quick-to-See Smith, brings together nearly 50 indigenous artists from across the United States.

Thomas Hirschhorn is celebrating the 10 year anniversary of his public installation, 'Gramsci Monument'.

Opening on Lund's 'Kultur night', Andreas Eriksson's 'Munkäng' will be on display at Lund Cathedral Crypt. The large scale painting is exhibited free standing in the space, allowing visitors to walk around the work.

'Threads' brings together works by 21 textile artists. Celebrating material and making, these artists use the storytelling power of textiles to connect with past traditions, find commonalities between cultures, time and place, and to ‘breathe stories into materials’.

'Slackwater' is Holly Hendry's first public commission in London, and her largest to date. The site-specific work occupies the terrace on the roof of Temple Underground station.

'Lagos, Peckham, Repeat: Pilgrimage to the Lakes' is a group exhibition looking at the connections between Lagos in Nigeria and Peckham in South East London. 

'We Are Forest' is presented as part of Triennale Milano.

This group exhibition marks 50 years since the coup in Uruguay. It presents works that explore the past, present and future of democracy, seeking to bring new voices to the discussion.

This year's Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy is co-ordinated by British painter David Remfry RA.

'PUBLIC PRIVATE' explores the quotidian: works by twelve contemporary artists depict private interiors and intimate experiences, alongside landscapes and the outside world.

'Imago Iustitiae', latin for 'the image of justice', brings together historic and contemporary works exploring the rendering of justice in art.

'Ecstatic' presents contemporary sculptures and works on paper recently acquired by the Hammer Museum.
