Caroline Walker features in 'Still Lives'
'Still Lives' brings together more than 70 works by over 50 artists, illustrating the enduring nature of the still life genre throughout different epochs in art history, including post-impressionism, British modernism, surrealism and contemporary art.
The exhibition reflects upon the enduring inspiration artists have found in everyday objects, from an interest in colour and form, to a desire to capture their impermanence. While still life is traditionally associated with painting, the exhibition will feature works from a range of artistic mediums including sculpture, photography, ceramics, painting and works-on-paper.
Featured artists include Eileen Agar, Vanessa Bell, Francis Butterfield, Steven Claydon, John Collier, Alexandre da Cunha, Margaret Firth, Jacob Foppens van Es, Roger Fry, Kaff Gerard, Juan Gris, Anthea Hamilton, Barbara Hepworth, Patrick Heron, Ivon Hitchens, Frances Hodgkins, Hazel King-Farlow, Mabel Layng, Rene Matić, Bernard Meninsky, Prafulla Mohanti, Emily Murray Patterson, Ben Nicholson, E.Q Nicholson, Willem Ormea, Anne Estelle Rice, Lucie Rie, Eva Rothschild, Veronica Ryan, William Scott, Walter Richard Sickert, Geer Van Velde, Nicolaes van Verendael and Caroline Walker.
