Rivane Neuenschwander features in 'Parliament of Plants II'
Building on the exploration of 'Parliament of Plants I', this exhibition presents a symbiotic approach to our relationship to the natural world. ‘Parliament of Plants II’ creates a new way to look and consider the world of plants; giving a voice to the these beings.
The predominant theme of two ‘raised stands’, originates from Michel Serres’ ‘Natural Contract’ and Lynn Margulis’ theory of symbiosis. These ideas are co-curated with the molecular biologist and historian of science Hans-Jörg Rheinberger. The show raises the question: can we achieve symbiotic coexistence, where human and non-human beings can learn from one another?
The featured artists include Polly Apfelbaum, Ursula Biemann, Anna Hilti, Alevtina Kakhidze, Jochen Lempert, Rivane Neuenschwander, Mariana Lacerda, Uriel Orlow, Silke Schatz, Thomas Struth, Athena Vida, Miki Yuia and Zheng Bo.
