Pam Glick features in 'The Feminine in Abstract Painting'
The Milton Resnick and Pat Passlof Foundation, New York, USA
‘The Feminine in Abstract Painting’ explores the construction of femininity through aesthetics, rather than identity or gender. The show aims to reconsider the term feminine by challenging and questioning its traditional associations. This exhibition is the amalgamation of six-years of thought between the curators Jennifer Samet and Andrea Belag.
Samet explains: “I am compelled by painting that seduces, rather than declares, and this is a kind of ‘soft power’ I associate with the feminine. The space of desire between longing and having—which painting, particularly abstraction, ultimately represents—is its power.”
This exhibition features works by artists including Lisa Beck, Etel Adnan, Pam Glick, Rebecca Morris and Miriam Schapiro.
