Kehinde Wiley and Deborah Roberts feature in 'I Can't Breathe'
Brainlab Headquarters, Munich, Germany
'I Can't Breathe' is a group exhibition that both recognises the suffering of people of colour in a racist society, and provides space for group mourning, healing and hope. The eponymous phrase conjures the violence faced by Black people, and casts the exhibition as a place of respite, where visitors and artists can breathe. The show comprises works by African and African diasporic artists in a range of media. It tackles themes of Black identity, trauma, dreams, representation, and an exploration of the art market's relationship to Black artists and their work.
