Sky Glabush and Johannes Nagel: True Blue
Overview
Two-person exhibition ’True Blue’ explores the "free flowing conversation" between applied and visual art with moulded porcelain by German artist Johannes Nagel and woven pictures by Canadian artist Sky Glabush. Both artists allow the process of creating their works to be somewhat improvisational, resulting in works that emerge as a conversation between materials, colours, textures, and composition.
Inspired by the Bauhaus, Sky Glabush has developed a style and a working method that oscillates between different modes of expression and different materials.
For Johannes Nagel, the vessel represents the archetypal form of artmaking. He transforms and shapes traditional materials using unusual techniques, particularly emphasising the fragile and organic properties of porcelain.
