Overview
'Being In the World' marks the tenth anniversary of Long Museum. Curated by Iwona Blazwick, the group show is conceived as an artistic celebration of returning to 'the world' in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic. Depictions of the human figure are at the centre of the show: the assembled paintings and installations encompass artists’ self-portraits, family albums, strangers in surreal scenarios and groups gathered in social activities. Ranging from collage to hyperrealism, the works reflect major movements in modern and contemporary art. Featured artists include Sarah Ball, Tracey Emin, Raphaël Fenice, Theaster Gates, Izumi Kato and Chen Zen.
