Anderson Ranch announce 2022 International Artist Honoree Yinka Shonibare CBE RA
Congratulations to Yinka Shonibare CBE RA, who has been named 2022 International Artist Honoree by Anderson Ranch Arts Center.
Describing himself as a ‘post-colonial hybrid’, Yinka Shonibare CBE RA creates work that explores issues of race and class through the media of sculpture, painting, photography, film, tapestries and public works. Shonibare will receive the Anderson Ranch Arts Center’s award on 14 July at a recognition dinner and live benefit auction in Snowmass Village, Colorado. The proceeds of the auction will support the non profit arts centre to provide workshops and extended residencies for the local community and international artists. The 25th honouree, Shonibare joins celebrated past recipients, including Nick Cave, Theaster Gates, Simone Leigh, Cindy Sherman, Frank Stella, Carrie Mae Weems and Ai Weiwei.
Summer Series: Featured Artists and Conversations
Wednesday 13 July, 12:30pm (MDT), Shonibare will give a presentation on his multidisciplinary practice alongside Belinda Holden and Douglas Fogle as part of the Summer Series: Featured Artists and Conversations programming. Thursday 14 July, 5:30pm (MDT), Anderson Ranch Arts Center’s Recognition Dinner celebrates creativity and service to the arts by recognising the accomplishments of key figures in the art world. Proceeds from the evening provide the financial support that enables Anderson Ranch Arts Center to flourish as a place for art making and dialog around contemporary art and issues.
