Denzil Forrester
Nottingham Contemporary hosts an evening of film and discussion exploring Denzil Forrester's life and practice. The event coincides with the artist's solo exhibition at the gallery, 'Itchin & Scratchin'.
The evening launches with 'Denzil's Dance', a film directed by Julian Henriques that follows Forrester's 2019 residency in Jamaica sketching Kingston's open-air nightclubs. Henriques will discuss the artist's drawings and paintings from the perspective of sound, investigating how Forrester represents music through movement, colour, line and perspective. The evening concludes with an 'in conversation' between Forrester and the gallery's Director, Sam Thorne tracing the artist's life and 40 year long career.
Thursday 27 February, 6.30–8.30pm
