Fundación Casa Wabi presents Izumi Kato’s first exhibit in Latin America. For this exhibition, Izumi Kato worked in-situ, exploring the new possibilities in form, materials and textures offered by Mexico. The result is a combination of new colors and compositions, never used by the artist before. Kato’s bold and forceful curves highlight the human form with organic lines, achieving distortion and simplification of the form. The works on display have no narrative element. They are dialogues that emerge from a direct connection to materials and the specific place where they are made. The figures inside the canvases appear to be enlightened with an aura, and undifferentiated bodies capture light through colors and embroidery.
