Yinka Shonibare CBE RA: Re-Création
'Re-Création' brings together works by contemporary artists from Africa and its diaspora to create a 'new' history of art that challenges pre-existing Western conceptions. From works influenced by great masters, such as Pablo Picasso or Paul Gauguin, to established genres such as still life, the selected artists' aim is always to re-create, re-invent, re-visit. The works on display form part of the Collection Blachère, some produced by artists who held a residency at the Fondation. Some works loaned by galleries, museums and collectors also feature.
'Re-Création' features: Clay Apenouvon (Togo), Moufouli Bello (Benin), Wim Botha (South Africa), Angèle Etoundi Essamba (Cameroon), Pierre Man's (DRC), Roméo Mivekannin (Benin), Aimé Mpané (DRC), Hassan Musa (Sudan), Franck Kemkeng Noah (Cameroon), Moustapha Baidi Oumarou (Cameroon), Marc Padeu (Cameroon), Yinka Shonibare CBE (England-Nigeria), Mary Sibande (South Africa), Maya-Inès Touam (France/Algeria), Dagmar Van Weeghel (The Netherlands).
