Overview

Caroline Walker features in British Art Show 9’, a Hayward Gallery touring exhibition co-presented by institutions across the cities of Aberdeen, Wolverhampton, Manchester and Plymouth. ‘British Art Show’ is a landmark, recurring exhibition of contemporary British art, organised every five years. The ninth edition, curated by Irene Aristizábal and Hammad Nasar, is structured around three main themes: healing, care and reparative history; tactics for togetherness; and imagining new futures. The exhibition documents artists’ personal and critical responses to the themes in a variety of mediums including film, painting, sculpture and performance. Alongside the touring presentation, a wide-ranging programme of creative learning and active participation will extend the reach of the project across the four British Art Show 9 cities. Supported by Arts Council England’s Project Grant for National Activities, as well as Art Fund, this will include new commissions, community co-created artists projects, performances, and focused programmes of social engagement.
