Kendell Geers is included in 'A story for the future, MAXXI's First Decade'
Overview
"A passionate work of research, reflection and debate on the first decade of the 21st century, through the point of view of MAXXI."
On the occasion of its tenth anniversary, MAXXI presents an exhibition that represents the past ten years of the museum’s activity, aimed at providing a new perspective on the institution’s future. Curated by Hou Hanru, 1,200 images, archive interviews, texts and publications from the museum’s first decade are collated and presented according to thematic and chronological criteria: MAXXI and the City; The Multitude; Worlds; The Challenges of Reality and Do You Believe in Innovation? The exhibition is conceived as an analysis of the development of MAXXI in response to the great challenges of our time.
Within the exhibition multimedia installations curated by the Dutch studio Inside-Outside by Petra Blaisse create an immersive environment focused on a multisensory experience. Visitors are invited to explore four central spaces and to engage in collective brainstorming, reflection and debate. An oral history of MAXXI’s journey is presented through the words of the artists, curators and the museum staff.
"What emerges is a profound link between artistic creation and contemporary reality, also underlined by the collaboration with the ANSA Agency, which has contributed to creating a powerful image-based account of the main events of the decade."
