Yinka Shonibare CBE RA in conversation with Delinda Collier
As part of SAIC's ongoing series of lectures ‘the Visiting Artists Program’ Yinka Shonibare CBE will join Delinda Collier (Associate Professor of Art History, Theory, and Criticism and interim Dean of Graduate Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago) for a virtual conversation followed by an audience Q&A. The event is free, non-ticketed, and open to the general public.
Collier's research specialisms are old and new media in Africa, Luso-African art, and Cold War modernisms. She is the author of Repainting the Walls of Lunda: Information Colonialism and Angolan Art (University of Minnesota, 2016) and Media Primitivism: Technological Art in Africa (Duke University, 2020).
Founded in 1868, the Visiting Artists Program has featured over 1,000 international artists, designers, and scholars representing more than 70 countries through a diverse mix of lectures, screenings, conversations, and readings. This event is presented in partnership with SAIC's Wellness Center and Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency.
