Deborah Roberts features in '100 Drawings from Now'
'100 Drawings from Now' is an exhibition and benefit event in support of participating artists and Drawing Center, New York. The show features drawings made by an international group of contemporary artists since 2020. The works on display provide a snapshot of artistic production during a period of profound global unrest that has resulted from the ongoing health and economic crises, as well as a surge of activism in response to systemic racism, social injustice, and police brutality in the United States. Together, the works reflect the myriad ways that drawing can act as a vital connective force, a respite, a demonstration of pain or anger in the face of injustice, and an essential expression of humanity. Included in the exhibition is Deborah Roberts' collage 'You look so much better if you smile', 2020.
Drawing Centre hosted a live conversation between Chief Curator Claire Gilman and Deborah Roberts on 8 December at 12.30pm (EST). A recording of the conversation is now available to watch online via @drawingcenter.
'100 Drawings from Now' is organized by Claire Gilman (Chief Curator), Rosario Güiraldes (Assistant Curator), and Laura Hoptman (Executive Director), with Isabella Kapur (Curatorial Assistant).
