Juan Araujo reveals a special commission for AnoZero
A new series of paintings by Juan Araujo titled 'Taxidermy of representation and other stories about Jorge Molder' have been specially conceived for the second edition of the Coimbra Biennial. The works are created from reproductions of photographs in books about the renowned Portuguese writer and photographer Jorge Molder.
Araujo creates a fictional narrative serialised around notions of authorship and authenticity of an artwork. He recalls themes of duplicity and of representation, of visual paradoxes and illusion, and of the ambiguity of perception, present in the works of Jorge Molder since the 1970s.
