Holly Hendry presents 'Cenotaph' Liverpool Biennial 2018, 'Beautiful world, where are you?'
Holly Hendry’s ‘Cenotaph’ is displayed in Exchange Flags, a public square adjacent to Liverpool's Town Hall. Commissioned by Liverpool Biennial and Liverpool BID Company, the sculpture is formed of pipe sections made from glass reinforced concrete.
To produce the work Hendry researched materials and material processes connected to Liverpool. She references the techniques of the major ship builders of Merseyside, the use of cast iron for manhole covers, and the city’s pioneering employment of architectural supports and precast concrete in panelled buildings.
