Holly Hendry presents 'Cenotaph' Liverpool Biennial touring programme 2018
Holly Hendry's large-scale outdoor artwork ‘Cenotaph’ is situated outside The Tetley gallery and former brewery site in Leeds. Originally commissioned for Liverpool Biennial 2018, the sculpture is inspired by the underground architecture of cities and presented as part of the Liverpool Biennial touring programme.
Hendry explores the anatomy of our surroundings, revealing the coming changes and hidden systems of urban space. ‘Cenotaph’ provides a link to the past and future of the site, situated above an underground system of tunnels that connected the brewery buildings. These are set to be uncovered and new systems installed as the space is developed and repurposed as a city centre park.
