Caroline Coon participates in Art on a Postcard's International Women's Day Auction
Caroline Coon has contributed two works to Art on a Postcard's International Women's Day Auction. This year, money raised will go towards the innovative work The Hepatitis C Trust carries out in Women’s Prisons where much of the prison population tests positive for hepatitis C, and the majority of women affected or at risk of hepatitis C are marginalised, experience gender inequalities, and often face complex multiple needs which are poorly met.
Coon's works are part of her ongoing Skinscape series, which cast the artist's body, her "model", as a landscape to be mapped. The paintings made for the auction, Skinscape: A symptomatic Hepatitis C rash - let's cure it! 1 and 2, take inspiration from the inflamed skin of Hepatitis C sufferers. The titles' call to action echo the artist's lifelong commitment to art as a means of activism.
