Frieze Viewing Rooms
Overview
For Frieze 2020, Stephen Friedman Gallery presents respective solo exhibitions by Holly Hendry and Denzil Forrester. In lieu of the fair being physically realised, the projects are exhibited in a specially designed space at 30 Old Burlington Street in October.
Holly Hendry: Busy Bodies
Frieze London
Stephen Friedman Gallery presents 'Busy Bodies', a selection of new works by British sculptor Holly Hendry. In this new group of sculptures, Hendry incorporates sections of disembodied portraits that reveal their interior workings, taking formal inspiration from defunct machinery and diagrammatic depictions of anatomy. The works on view, several of which have kinetic elements, explore the blurred relationship between our bodies, emotions and mechanisation – stuck on repeat or requiring continual maintenance.

Denzil Forrester in Rome
Frieze Masters
Stephen Friedman Gallery presents ‘Denzil Forrester in Rome’, a selection of large-scale paintings and works on paper by Grenada-born, British artist Denzil Forrester. In 1983, Forrester was awarded a two-year scholarship by the British School at Rome in Italy. The works made there represent a defining moment in the artist's practice in which his frenetic depictions of London nightclub scenes are treated with the clarity and intensity of Rome’s natural light and rich art history.
